چکیده
A novel collisionless shock jump condition is suggested by modeling the entropy production at transition region. We also calculate downstream developments of atomic ionization balance and ion temperature relaxation in supernova remnants (SNRs). The injection process subsequent acceleration cosmic-rays (CRs) SNR shocks are closely related to formation shocks. caused wave-particle interactions. The Cosmic Ray Precursor of Relativistic Collisionless Shocks: a Missing Link in Gamma-ray Burst Afterglows
Collisionless shocks are commonly argued to be the sites of cosmic ray (CR) acceleration. We study the influence of CRs on weakly magnetized relativistic collisionless shocks and apply our results to external shocks in gamma-ray burst (GRB) afterglows. The common view is that the transverse Weibel instability (TWI) generates a small-scale magnetic field that facilitates collisional coupling and...
متن کاملElectron-Ion Temperature Equilibration at Collisionless Shocks in Supernova Remnants
The topic of this review is the current state of our knowledge about the degree of initial equilibration between electrons, protons and ions at supernova remnant (SNR) shocks. Specifically, the question has been raised as to whether there is an inverse relationship between the shock velocity and the equilibration similar to the relationship between equilibration and Alfvén Mach number seen in i...
متن کاملX-ray optical depth diagnostics of T Tauri accretion shocks
Context. In classical T Tauri stars, X-rays are produced by two plasma components: a hot low-density plasma, with frequent flaring activity, and a high-density lower temperature plasma. The former is coronal plasma related to the stellar magnetic activity. The latter component, never observed in non-accreting stars, could be plasma heated by the shock formed by the accretion process. However it...
متن کاملTime Delays in Cosmic Ray Propagation
Cosmic Rays (CR) travel at speeds essentially indistinguishable from the speed of light. However whilst travelling through magnetic fields, both regular and turbulent, they are delayed behind the light since they are usually charged particles and their paths are not linear. Those delays can be so long that they are an impediment to correctly identifying sources which may be variable in time. Fu...
متن کاملTime Variability and Bifurcations of Cosmic Ray Acceleration at Shocks*
Dynamics of shock acceleration of ultrarelativistic particles is analyzed with the emphasis on the backreaction of such particles on the shock parameters. To this end, a complete kinetic description of accelerated particles coupled with the plasma flow around a shock, is reduced to a tracktable system of time dependent integro-differential equations. A well known multiplicity [1] of stationary ...
